Biography of Andreas Haider-Maurer

Andreas Haider-Maurer is an Austrian professional tennis player. He began his career in 2005 and has been competing in the ATP professional tour since then. Haider-Maurer measures 190 cm in height and weighs 89 kg. He plays with his right hand and has a two-handed backhand. His coach is Karel Van Vik.

Early Career

In 2006, Haider-Maurer won his first tournament in the Futures series. The following year, he achieved two more victories in the Futures series and made his debut in the ATP tournament in Vienna. In 2010, after successfully qualifying, Andreas made his debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament at the US Open. Unfortunately, he was defeated in the first round by Swedish player Robin Soderling.

Breakthrough in Vienna

In October 2011, Haider-Maurer surprised experts by performing exceptionally well in the ATP tournament in Vienna. He replaced the injured Ernest Gulbis and managed to defeat Thomas Muster, Andreas Seppi, Marin Cilic, and Michael Berrer in the main draw, securing a spot in the tournament finals. However, he lost to his fellow countryman Jurgen Melzer in a thrilling match with a score of 7-6(10), 6-7(4), 4-6.
