Biography of Andrew Davis
American film director and producer Andrew Davis is best known for his work on action films such as "Code of Silence," "The Fugitive," "Chain Reaction," "Collateral Damage," and "Under Siege." He was born in the southern part of Chicago, Illinois and often used the city as a backdrop in his films. Andrew comes from a family with a background in the arts, as his father, Nathan Davis, was an actor, and his brother, Richard Peter Davis, is a professional musician who founded the musical group "Chicago Catz."

After attending the Harand Camp of the Theater Arts and a local high school, Andrew pursued his studies in journalism at the University of Illinois. However, he eventually lost interest in civil rights activism and anti-war demonstrations and became drawn to the world of cinema. He gained his first experience on film sets as a cinematographer for Blaxploitation films like "The Hit Man," "Cool Breeze," and "The Slams."

Andrew's first feature film as a director was the semi-biographical "Stony Island," released in 1978. However, it was his action films, including "Code of Silence," "The Fugitive," "Chain Reaction," "Collateral Damage," "Under Siege," "Above the Law," "Holes," "The Guardian," and "The Package," that truly brought him fame. To date, Davis has a total of 15 directorial works, including the mentioned "Stony Island," the short television film "At Home with Shields and Yarnell," and the pilot episode of the TV series "Just Legal." Additionally, Andrew directed video inserts in the video game "Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory."
In October 2006, at a press conference in London, Davis announced his plans to release a film that would combine the stories of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes and Tom Jones by Henry Fielding. His work on "The Fugitive" earned him a Golden Globe and a nomination for the Director's Guild of America award for "Best Director."
