Biography of Andrew Russell Garfield

Andrew Russell Garfield is an English-American actor of theater, radio, film, and television. He is best known for his role as Spider-Man in the blockbuster of the same name and was nominated for an Academy Award for his work in the film "Hacksaw Ridge". He was born on August 20, 1983, in an English-American family. His parents moved to California, USA, where he spent the first three years of his life. His father worked as a swimming coach and his mother worked as a nursery school teacher. In 1986, his parents moved to England. Andrew is of Jewish heritage, with his ancestors immigrating to America from Russia, Romania, and Poland. His paternal grandfather changed their family name from Garfinkel to Garfield. He attended schools in London and Esher.

In 2004, immediately after graduating from drama school, Andrew Garfield began his theater career. He played Dexy in the play "Mercy" at the Soho Theatre. In the same year, he was invited to play Billy in the play "Kes" at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, for which he received the MEN Theatre Award. In 2005, Andrew brilliantly played Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet" at the same theater, and the following year, he was recognized as an outstanding newcomer by the Evening Standard. He has performed in 7 theater productions throughout his career, with one of his recent roles being Biff in the Broadway production of "Death of a Salesman".

Andrew Garfield made his film debut in 2005 in the TV series "Sugar Rush", targeted at a teenage audience. In the same year, he appeared in the popular British series "Doctor Who". Two years later, he gained popularity and starred in two feature films, "Boy A" which earned him a BAFTA award, and "Lions for Lambs". In "Lions for Lambs", he acted alongside Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep. In 2008, he had a cameo role in the historical film "The Other Boleyn Girl" with Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson. He also had a lead role in the three-season series "Red Riding", which revolved around crimes in Yorkshire and a corrupt system. In the film "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" in the same year, Garfield portrayed a wandering circus artist named Anton.

However, they announced a break in their relationship a few months before the planned wedding. After their split, Garfield was briefly linked to British singer and actress Rita Ora.
