Early Career

In 1997, Jen was chosen as the artistic director responsible for the ready-to-wear clothing and accessories collection at the fashion house 'Balmain', where Oscar de La Renta created unique haute couture designs. However, his debut collection in collaboration with 'Balmain' received negative criticism, leading to the termination of his contract.

Solo Success

Despite this setback, Jen's career took off when his solo collections were well-received. He founded his own label in 1996, catering to sophisticated and coquettish women who prefer minimalist aesthetics. His designs also appeal to a segment of society that highly values luxurious fabrics from the 1950s and 1960s. Jen is often praised for his exceptional use of color and his ability to connect with "bourgeois princesses". His creations include fitted tube skirts, fur accessories, floral appliques, embroidered coats, and cashmere pieces. His collections feature knitted sweaters with fur collars, jackets with fur cuffs, velvet pencil skirts, and more.

New Direction

However, his Spring/Summer 2011 collection took a 180-degree turn away from his signature short skirts, focusing instead on layered dresses made of cotton and lace, wide trousers with tunics, jackets, and blazers. Jen has a massive following in Japan and his designs have been favored by celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Lopez, and others.
