Childhood and Early Life
Andrew Leeds was born on September 24, 1981, in Clearwater, Florida, to a family with a younger sister named Joanna. From an early age, Leeds displayed shyness, leading his mother to enroll him in singing lessons at the age of three. This ignited his passion for performing and eventually led him to Broadway.
Broadway Debut and Early Career
At just eight years old, Leeds made his professional theater debut in the musical "Teddy & Alice," based on the life of Theodore Roosevelt. He later embarked on a national tour for "Les Misérables." Leeds returned to Broadway and performed for the next year in the musical "Falsettos." Following several small stage roles, Leeds contributed vocals to Carly Simon's album "Romulus Hunt: A Family Opera" in 1993.
Education and the Move to Hollywood
Despite his love for acting, Leeds pursued computer science at Stanford University. However, he actively participated in student theater productions. Upon graduation, Adobe offered Leeds a job, but he declined and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Hollywood.
Film and Television Career
Leeds's film debut came in 1992, where he voiced a character in "Little Red Riding Hood's First Christmas." Although he had a brief appearance as an extra in the 1993 film "Born to Be a Star," Leeds gained notice for his role in the 1995 film "Major Payne." In 2012, Leeds joined the seventh season of the crime drama "Bones," portraying the recurring antagonist Christopher Pelant. He has also appeared in episodes of "Desperate Housewives," "House M.D.," "American Horror Story," and others.
Screenwriting and Producing
In addition to acting, Leeds is a passionate screenwriter. His first writing credit came in 2005, when his screenplay "The Life of Steven" was selected for production in the reality show "On the Lot." Leeds has collaborated with FOX, NBC, ABC, and Showtime as a writer and producer, also gaining experience in directing.
Personal Life and Collaborations
Leeds has been in a long-term relationship with actress, model, and writer Lindsay Kraft for over 11 years. Although they have not married, Kraft has expressed her appreciation for their relationship. Leeds and Kraft have collaborated on several projects, including appearances in ten television series and his films "Rex Isn't Your Lawyer" and "Brenda Forever." Kraft's transition into screenwriting was inspired by Leeds, and they currently work on Broadway productions together.
Recent Projects
Leeds's latest notable screen appearance was in the psychological thriller series "The Patient," released in August 2022. He portrays Ezra Strauss, the son of Steve Carell's character, Dr. Alan Strauss.
