American photographer

Andrew Moore, an American photographer, is widely known around the world for his large-format color photographs taken in different cities and countries. His works seamlessly combine documentary style with artistic traditions to create multilayered historical narratives.

Biography

Andrew Moore was born in 1957. His early interest in photography was supported by his parents, who equipped a darkroom in the attic for him. He later studied photography at Princeton University, where he graduated with honors in 1979.

Photography career

In New York, Moore documented the rapid changes in the urban landscape, capturing the architecture and reflecting the surrounding atmosphere amidst large-scale transformations. In 1998, he visited Cuba for the first time and made multiple trips to Russia between 2000 and 2004.

Teaching and recognition

From 2001 to 2010, Andrew Moore taught photography at Princeton University, and he currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He has received numerous awards, and his works can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Yale University Art Gallery, the George Eastman Museum, the Library of Congress, and many other institutions.
