Biography of Andrew Niccol
Early Life
Andrew Niccol was born in 1964 in New Zealand, where he spent his childhood. He later moved to the United Kingdom, where he began to pursue a career in directing. For over ten years, he successfully directed television commercials. However, his ambitions led him to Los Angeles, where he decided to make feature films.

The Truman Show and Gattaca
Niccol's breakthrough came with the screenplay for "The Truman Show," which he wrote and produced. The influential producer Scott Rudin was impressed with Niccol's script but considered it risky to entrust an unknown director with the film, especially since the acclaimed actor Jim Carrey was attached to the project. As a result, experienced director Peter Weir was brought on board, with Niccol still involved as the screenwriter and producer. "The Truman Show" received critical acclaim and earned Niccol an Oscar nomination and a British Academy Film Award for Best Original Screenplay.
In 1997, Niccol made his directorial debut with the science fiction film "Gattaca." The film received praise for its visual aesthetics and philosophical themes and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Art Direction and a Golden Globe for Best Original Score. Interestingly, "Gattaca" achieved greater success in Europe than in the United States.
Later Career
Following the success of "The Truman Show" and "Gattaca," Niccol continued to explore themes of mass culture and artificial reality in his films. In 2002, he directed "S1m0ne," another critically acclaimed movie starring Al Pacino. Niccol also wrote the screenplay and served as an executive producer for Steven Spielberg's "The Terminal" in 2004.
In 2009, Niccol directed "Dali & I: The Surreal Story." He has two more films, "The Cross" and "Brave New World," set for release in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
Personal Life
During the filming of "S1m0ne," Niccol met Rachel Roberts, who later became his wife. They have two children together, a son named Jack and a daughter named Eva.
