Early Life and Education
Andriy Klochko, a Ukrainian politician, was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. From 1987 to 1998, he attended Secondary School No. 264 with a focus on English. He then pursued a degree in Electronics Engineering at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute from 1998 to 2004, specializing in Physical and Biomedical Electronics. Klochko further obtained qualifications in Economics from the Ukrainian Academy of Management and Business in 2003-2005.
Klochko also underwent military training at the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization in 2003, earning the rank of Junior Lieutenant. In 2010, he graduated with honors from the International Institute of Management, receiving a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Administration at the National Academy of Public Administration and a PhD in International Relations at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
Business and Entrepreneurial Endeavors
Klochko has been involved in entrepreneurial activities, particularly in the wholesale and retail of books. He headed the sales department of the media holding company "Glavred-Media" from 2008 to 2011. From 2009 to 2013, he managed the book project "Chitayka."
From 2013 to 2018, Klochko held managerial positions in the processing and distribution of agricultural products in Ukraine and abroad. Prior to his election as a Member of Parliament, he worked as an assistant to the vice-rector and a leading specialist in the international relations department at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.
He was a co-founder of the Trade House "Intefer Ukraine" and "Raduga Ukraine," but withdrew after his election to Parliament.
Political Career
Klochko began his political career by running for the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) in 2014. In 2015, he ran for the Kyiv City Council. In 2019, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada as part of the "Servant of the People" party.
Within the Verkhovna Rada, Klochko chairs the Committee on Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development, and Urban Planning. He is the author of over 120 legislative initiatives.
Klochko is a member of the Permanent Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and holds various positions in inter-parliamentary groups. He is a member of the Ukrainian Construction Chamber and heads its Subcommittee on State Architectural and Construction Monitoring, Licensing, and Insurance.
Public and Social Activities
Klochko is vice-president of the All-Ukrainian Petanque Federation and chair of its referees' committee. He is also a co-founder of the School of Political Leaders and was the head of the public organization "Kolo."
Personal Life
Klochko is married and has two children, a son named Adrian and a daughter named Evelina. His mother is Natalia Klochko, and his sister is Elena Gruzitskaya.
Wealth and Controversy
A significant portion of Klochko's real estate holdings and vehicles are registered in the names of his mother and sister. Since his election in 2019, his mother has made several large purchases, including land, townhouses, and apartments in upscale areas.
Klochko has explained these purchases by stating that his sister assists his mother. However, there are questions about the sources of income used for these acquisitions.
