Early Life and Education
Sergei Mirgorodsky was born on October 26, 1961, in the Pecherskyi district of Kyiv, Ukraine, to renowned architects Sergey Mirgorodsky and Alla Sensova. He pursued his architectural education at the Faculty of Architecture of the Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute from 1978 to 1984.
Academic Achievements and Recognition
In 1984, Mirgorodsky's graduation project earned him first place in the All-Union Competition for Diploma Projects of Graduates from Architectural Universities of the USSR. He became the youngest member of the Union of Architects of the USSR in Ukrainian history, joining in 1987.
Architectural Projects in Madrid
Between 1990 and 1992, Mirgorodsky's design for a public center in Madrid was awarded first place. This led to his work in Madrid, where he specialized in the design of public buildings.
Political and Civic Involvement
In 2004-2005, Mirgorodsky served as First Deputy Head of the Standing Commission on Urban Planning and Architecture in the Kyiv City Council. He also joined the Board of Directors of the Ukrainian Construction Association.
From 2007 to 2010, Mirgorodsky became Co-Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction of Ukraine. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine and Head of the Legislative Initiatives Committee.
Member of Architectural Organizations
Mirgorodsky became a member of the Urban Planning Council of Kyiv and the American Institute of Architects.
Legislative Contributions
Mirgorodsky co-authored the "Rules for Urban Development of Kyiv" and the draft law "On Preventing the Impact of the Global Financial Crisis on the Construction Sector and Housing Construction." He also co-authored the Law on "Regulation of Urban Planning Activities."
Architectural Works and Publications
Mirgorodsky is credited with over 100 architectural projects. He authored the book "Kyiv - European Capital. Development Strategy."
Awards and Honors
Mirgorodsky received the "Architect of the Year-2012" award and the "Best Architectural Workshop in Ukraine-2013" award. He was twice awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
