Early Life and Education

Andrei Sadovyi was born on August 19, 1968, in Lviv, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. He graduated from the Lviv Radioelectronics College in 1987 and later obtained a degree in Electronic Devices from the Lviv Polytechnic Institute in 1995. Additionally, he holds a degree in Finance and Credit from the Lviv Polytechnic Institute's Faculty of Economics (1997) and a Master's degree in Public Administration from the Ukrainian Academy of State Governance (1999).

Military Service and Early Career

After graduating from college, Sadovyi served in the Soviet Army from 1987 to 1989. Following his military service, he worked as a radio equipment inspector at the Lvivpribor plant until 1992. From 1992 to 1995, he served as deputy director of the Lviv branch of the Social Adaptation of Youth Fund.

Business and Political Involvement

Between 1995 and 2001, Sadovyi chaired the "Lvivschyna Development Fund." Simultaneously, from 1997 to 2005, he led the board of OJSC Yuzgozapstroyelektroset. He was a member of the Lviv City Council from 1998 to 2002 and chaired the supervisory board of the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Cultural and Educational Fund from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2003, he led the "Institute of City Development" and published the magazine "Misto" ("City").

In 2002, Sadovyi established and chaired the board of ZAO "Lyuks" Television and Radio Company. In 2005, he founded the Lviv public association "Samopomich" ("Self-Help"), which became his platform in the mayoral race.

Mayor of Lviv

In March 2006, Sadovyi was elected Mayor of Lviv and took office in April of the same year. He is a member of the "Our Ukraine" political party.

Personal Life and Wealth

Andrei Sadovyi owns approximately 20% of the Yuzgozapstroyelektroset company and several other businesses controlled through "Halytskyi Investments." His media assets previously included the newspaper "Postup," but following its closure, he now owns the "Lyuks" television and radio company. According to the "Comments" magazine, Sadovyi's fortune is estimated at $10 million USD. He is married and has three sons.
