Artis Pabriks is the current Minister of Finance of Latvia. He has held this position since December 1, 2016.
Early Life and Education
Pabriks was born in Riga, Latvia, in 1958. He graduated from Leningrad State University in 1986 with a degree in geography.
Career
Pabriks began his career as an economist at SEB bank. He later became the head of the stock market analysis and analytics department at Latvijas Unibanka.
Political Career
Pabriks entered politics in 2011 when he joined the Unity party. He became the chairman of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the Latvian Association of Commercial Banks.
In 2016, Pabriks was appointed Minister of Finance. He is responsible for overseeing the Latvian financial system and implementing the government's economic policies.
Personal Life
Pabriks is married and has two children. He is a keen sports fan and enjoys playing tennis and golf.
