Biography of Angela Gheorghiu

Angela Gheorghiu was born in 1965 in Romania. She is a Romanian soprano singer. She made her debut in 1989 in Bucharest, playing the role of Mimi. In 1992, she successfully debuted on the stage of the Vienna Opera, playing the role of Adina in "The Elixir of Love". In the same year, she performed at Covent Garden, playing the roles of Zerlina in "Don Giovanni", Mimi, and Liu.

Her performance in 1994 at Covent Garden as Violetta, conducted by Georg Solti, was a triumphant success and was recorded on video and CD, featuring other soloists such as Lopardo and Nucci, under the Deutsche Grammophon label. In 1994, she also made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera, playing the role of Adina. In 1995, she performed with Domingo at the Salzburg Festival in "Otello", playing the role of Desdemona.
