Angela began her musical journey by joining the German death metal band Asmodina in the early 1990s. She later became a member of Mistress, another death metal band. During this time, Angela honed her skills and developed a unique vocal style characterized by guttural growls.

In November 2000, Angela joined the Swedish death metal band Arch Enemy, following the departure of their previous vocalist, Johan Liiva. Prior to joining the band, Angela had interviewed Arch Enemy's guitarist Christopher Amott for a German online magazine. During the interview, she handed Amott a demo recording of her "raw" live performance at a club, which she described as of "horrible quality."

Impressed by her talent and energy, the members of Arch Enemy invited Angela to audition for the vacant vocalist position. According to Amott, she "blew the roof off with all the other candidates." Angela's powerful and distinctive growls became a defining feature of Arch Enemy's sound.

International Success and Tours
