Actress, Model, and Artist

An Duong, an actress, model, and artist, was born on October 25, 1960, in Bordeaux, France. She comes from a "multinational" family, with a Spanish mother and a Vietnamese father. Duong studied architecture at the School of Fine Arts from 1978 and also trained in classical dance at the Franchetti Academy. After completing her studies, she entered the modeling industry. She worked with renowned companies such as "Vogue," "Christian Lacroix," and "John Galliano."

Acting Career

In 1988, Duong moved to New York, where she started her acting career. Some of her notable films include "My Best Friend's Wedding," "High Art," and "Love Me." She also appeared in Mary Harron's "I Shot Andy Warhol" and Tom Kalin's "Swoon." The latter film tells the story of American designer Jeffrey Bean's influence on the fashion world and his meticulous work during the 1930s. Duong also played the role of an immigrant seamstress in the film "Scent of a Woman" and portrayed a charming woman from the criminal world in "The Mambo Kings."

Artistic Endeavors

After retiring from her modeling career, Duong discovered her talent as an artist. Since 1988, shortly after moving to New York, she has been painting. In the spring of 1999, Duong held her first solo exhibition at the "Galerie Jérôme de Noirmont," showcasing her self-portraits. She worked on over 65 pieces for the exhibition, spanning from 1989 to 1999. Duong has been exhibiting her paintings since 1990, with her works being displayed in New York, Fukuoka, Ostend, and Paris from 1990 to 2005.

Personal Life

In 2006, Duong married architect and co-owner of "Prague Kolektiv," Barton Quillen. Their wedding ceremony took place in the Hamptons, and Duong wore a dress designed by "Christian Lacroix." Currently, An Duong resides in New York and continues to thrive in the art industry. She has shifted from industrial painting to focusing on portraits, mainly self-portraits. Undoubtedly, An Duong's art resembles the works of Egon Schiele and captures the spirit of Frida Kahlo in some aspects.
