Angel de Cuatiér: A Literary Enigma
Roots and ChildhoodThe enigmatic writer Angel de Cuatiér, whose true identity remains a mystery, claims to be a descendant of the Navajo tribe. In his autobiographical book series titled "In Search of the Tablets," he recounts his childhood, stating, "I was born in Mexico. My mother is Navajo, and my father is French."
French Father, Shaman Grandfather
Cuatiér's father, Paul de Cuatiér, was a French aristocrat who rebelled against his wealthy family's expectations. He left the comforts of his life in France to pursue a bohemian existence in Mexico. There, he established a circus, performing as a juggler, acrobat, and magician. It was during this time that he became fascinated with ancient Native American cultures and met Cuatiér's mother.
Navajo Mother, Shamanic Influence
Cuatiér's mother, Ainho, was the sole daughter of a Navajo shaman named Henaro. Until the age of eighteen, Cuatiér lived with his maternal grandfather. At his birth, Henaro proclaimed, "You must not teach him. I will do it myself. He has a great journey ahead of him."
Controversial Identity
Despite Cuatiér's claims of Mexican-Navajo origins, some speculate that he is actually the pseudonym of Russian psychologist Andrey Kurpatov. However, as these allegations have not been officially verified, the true identity of Angel de Cuatiér remains a subject of debate.
