Early Life and Education
Anna Purtsen, known as Anika, was born on April 29, 1995, in Tbilisi, Georgia. Her parents are an architect and a doctor, and her family relocated to Moscow when she was six years old. Despite her early interest in music, she pursued a "stable" education at the Moscow State University of Technology (MGTU) in graphic design. Additionally, she studied 3D animation at the Moscow Architectural Institute (MARHI).
Musical Beginnings
Anika's musical journey began in high school, where she performed in a rock band. After meeting street musicians who recognized her talent, she began performing on the streets of Moscow. Her repertoire included challenging songs by Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu. Her unique timbre and vocal technique impressed passersby and generated significant income for her and her fellow performers.
Social Media Breakthrough
Anika's online presence played a pivotal role in her success. By sharing her musical creations on social media, she garnered the attention of established artists such as Basta and Oxxxymiron. In October 2018, she released her debut single, "Damn," accompanied by a video showcasing her Georgian heritage.
Participation in "Songs"
In 2019, Anika participated in the second season of the popular TV show "Songs." Her opening performance with the song "Miss You" left a lasting impression on judges Basta and Timati, securing her spot in the competition.
Personal Life
Despite her active social media presence, Anika maintains a private personal life. Her songs are said to reflect her own experiences, providing listeners with a glimpse into her inner world. She also embraces her striking appearance, modeling for several Russian fashion brands. However, she emphasizes that music remains her true passion.
Current Projects
Currently, Anika continues to pursue her musical career. While engaged in "Songs," she simultaneously performs at concerts and captivates audiences in Moscow clubs. Her single "Miss You" was released on iTunes in February 2019, and she is working on her debut album, which will feature collaborations with rapper Saluki.
