Anjana Mumtaz's husband worked for several years in the Indian flagship carrier airline, Air India, and is now retired. She is the mother of Ruslaan Mumtaz, a well-known Bollywood actor born on August 2, 1979. Despite her own successful acting career, Anjana Mumtaz was initially against her son Ruslaan choosing the path of acting. She believed that the journey would be long and exhausting. As a mother, she was confident that Ruslaan would pursue further education and wanted him to obtain an MBA degree. It was only after prolonged persuasion that she agreed to let him join the ranks of the film industry.
