Early Life and TragedyAnna Kay Napualani Akana was born on August 18, 1989, in California. Raised alongside her younger siblings, her father's military service necessitated frequent relocations. While living in Japan for four years, Akana developed a fascination with anime.
However, her life took a tragic turn in 2007 when her 13-year-old sister Christina committed suicide due to school bullying. The loss sent Anna into a deep depression for several months.
