Anna Turchynova is a renowned Ukrainian educator and public figure. She is known as the wife of former Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov and is actively involved in education, advocacy, and social issues.

Early Life and Education

Anna Turchynova was born on April 1, 1970, in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. She completed her studies at the Roman-Germanic Faculty of Dnipro University and went on to pursue an advanced degree at the Kyiv Linguistic University.

Academic Career

Since 1995, Turchynova has been a faculty member at the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University in Kyiv. She has held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Natural-Geographical Education and Ecology since 2006 and is also the Head of the Foreign Languages Department.

Assassination Attempt

On May 25, 2016, Turchynova survived an assassination attempt by Vladimir Olenchenko, a Donetsk resident. Olenchenko was carrying a knife and attacked a woman in the university reception whom he mistook for Turchynova. Fortunately, security personnel intervened and apprehended Olenchenko, preventing any injuries.

LGBT Stance

In 2018, Turchynova made controversial statements regarding the LGBTQ+ community, describing homosexuality as an "deviation from the norm." Her comments sparked outrage and calls for her dismissal.
