Debbie Rowe Biography

Deborah Jean "Debbie" Rowe was born on December 6, 1958. She is best known for being the former wife of the pop king, Michael Jackson, and the mother of his two children. Rowe currently resides in Palmdale, California.

Meeting Michael Jackson

Debbie Rowe first met Michael Jackson in the mid-1980s when she worked as an assistant to his dermatologist. This was during the period when he was diagnosed with vitiligo.

Marriage and Children

In 1996, Debbie Rowe became pregnant and on November 14 of the same year, she and Jackson got married in Sydney, Australia. This was the second marriage for both of them. Rowe had divorced Richard Edelman in 1988, while Jackson's divorce from Lisa Marie Presley was finalized in 1996. Just three months after their wedding, on February 13, 1997, Rowe gave birth to their son, Prince Michael Jackson Jr. Their daughter, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, was born on April 3, 1998. However, the couple divorced on October 8, 1999, with Jackson gaining full custody of the children. Rowe received a settlement of $8 million and a house in Beverly Hills.

Custody Battle

In 2001, Rowe sought legal counsel to fight for her parental rights, but her request was rejected by the court in 2004. According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Rowe, being Jewish herself, expressed concerns about the Islamic traditions that could be imparted to the children by Jackson's nannies and relatives. Court documents from 2005 indicated that Rowe had limited contact with the children, being allowed to see them for only eight hours every 45 days.

Post-Divorce Life

In 2005, Rowe sold her Beverly Hills home for $1.3 million and purchased a ranch in Palmdale, California. In 2006, she filed two lawsuits against Jackson, one for $195,000 and another for $50,000, regarding custody issues. Jackson was required to pay a legal fee of $60,000 as a result.

Surrogacy Controversy

Following Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, some media outlets, including TMZ, claimed that Rowe was a surrogate mother and not the biological mother of Jackson's children. However, this statement was refuted by Rowe's attorney, Marta Almli. In early July of the same year, The New York Post reported that Rowe had received $4 million from Jackson in exchange for dropping all custody lawsuits. However, Rowe's lawyer later presented evidence contradicting The New York Post's claims and demanded an immediate end to the story, accusing the tabloid of spreading falsehoods. Despite multiple requests, The New York Post refused to provide a refutation or disclose the source of the information.
