Anna Zaborska

Born in Bojnice, Slovakia, Anna Záborská pursued medicine at the Comenius University in Martin, graduating in 1972. She is fluent in seven languages, including Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Slovak.
Family Life
On July 10, 1972, she married architect Vladimír Záborský. They have two daughters: Veronika (born 1973, residing in Rome) and Eva (born 1976, residing in Bojnice).
Medical Career
Záborská worked as a physician from 1972 to 1998, serving in locations such as Žilina, Bejaia (Algeria), and Prievidza.
Political Career
Inspired by her father, medical doctor and political activist Anton Nemec, Záborská embarked on her political journey. She joined the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) in 1999, serving as Vice-President for International Relations from 1999 to 2000.
Elected to the Slovak National Parliament in 1998, Záborská played a key role in the Slovakia-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, contributing to Slovakia's EU accession in 2004. She was appointed as an observer to the European Parliament in 2003.
European Parliament Membership
In 2004, Záborská was elected as an MEP. She served on the EP Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (2004-2009), the EP Committee on Development (2004-2009), and the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (2004-2009). She was re-elected to the EP in 2009 and continued her work on these committees while also joining the EP Delegation for Relations with Canada (2009-2014) and the EP Special Committee on Organised Crime, Corruption, and Money Laundering (2012-2014).
Re-elected once again in 2014, Záborská became a member of the EP Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy. Her role in the EP included serving as rapporteur for several reports on gender equality and women's rights.
In 2010, she presented a written declaration calling for an early warning system for pedophilia, which was adopted by the EP with strong support. She remains a vocal advocate for pro-life policies.
