Biography of Anne Marie Beretta

Anne Marie Beretta, a French designer, was born in 1937 in Beziers, France. At the age of 20, she moved to Paris and began her creative career under the influence of Jacques Griffe. In the late 1950s, Anne Marie Beretta worked with Antonio Castillo and also created various costumes for theatrical productions in her free time. She also worked with renowned designer Jacques Esterel for some time before releasing her first line of women's lingerie for the brand "Pierre d'Alby" in 1965.

In the early 1970s, Anne Marie Beretta collaborated with brands such as "Georges Edelman," "Ramosport," and "Bercher." In 1974, after nearly 20 years in the fashion business, she founded her own brand - "Anne Marie Beretta." Critics admired her slightly dark works, and her style was called "architectural fashion" as some of her collections resembled sculptural compositions.

Every season, Anne Marie Beretta offered fashionistas something new. She designed clothing for skiers, and her collection of blazers for "Max Mara" caused a sensation at one point. In 1985, the designer launched a ready-to-wear line for both men and women, as well as a line of home furnishings. That year, she used the finest Japanese fabric imported by the company "JL de Ball" for her latest collection. Anne Marie's outfits became increasingly avant-garde, with asymmetry and coats resembling capes.

In the same year, the National Centre for Arts and Culture, named after Georges Pompidou, hosted a solo exhibition by Anne Marie Beretta. A year later, she was awarded the prestigious French Order of Literature and Art. Anne Marie Beretta presented her last collection in the 1997/1998 season. In the same year, her final exhibition showcased her best works created over her forty-year career.
