A group of Earth scientists observed the local inhabitants but were forbidden from interfering with the course of history. Anne Gautier played one of the main roles in the film, portraying a local resident named Kira, who was the servant of the nobleman Don Rumata (played by Edward Zentara), who was secretly an Earth spy named Anton. Unfortunately, the adaptation did not live up to expectations, as the director failed to capture the philosophical ideas of the Strugatsky novel. Instead of a philosophical allegory about a man who wanted to help people, the film turned into a revenge story, an ordinary action film.

In the 90s, Anne Gautier played notable roles in several films, including the drama "The Wedding Ship" directed by Jean-Pierre Ameris (as Marie), the comedy "The Woman Who Must Be Destroyed" directed by Guy Pinon (as Marianne), and the comedy "Nobody Loves Me" directed by Marion Vernoux (as Patricia).
