Biography of Anshu Jain
Anshu Jain is an Indian economist and banker who served as the co-CEO of Deutsche Bank from June 1, 2012. He was born on January 7, 1963, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Jain studied economics at the Delhi School of Economics, where he graduated with honors in 1983. He then obtained an MBA in finance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1985.

Early Career
After completing his education, Jain started his career as an analyst at Kidder, Peabody & Co. in 1985. He worked there until 1988, gaining valuable experience in the financial industry. He then joined Merrill Lynch in New York, where he founded and led the firm's securities insurance group for hedge funds.

Deutsche Bank
In 1995, Jain joined Deutsche Bank, where he again established and led a specialized unit focused on hedge funds and derivatives markets. He became a member of the bank's executive committee in 2002 and held various leadership positions, including head of global markets and head of corporate and investment banking. Jain played a crucial role in transforming Deutsche Bank from a German commercial bank into one of the world's leading investment banks.

Leadership Role
Jain became co-CEO of Deutsche Bank on June 1, 2012, succeeding Josef Ackermann. He was responsible for the bank's corporate financial policy, sales and trading, and banking transactions. Jain was widely discussed as a potential successor to Ackermann. In 2010, he earned nearly 12 million euros, making him the highest-paid employee at Deutsche Bank at the time.
Other Roles and Achievements
In addition to his responsibilities at Deutsche Bank, Jain served as a non-executive director of Sasol, a leading South African oil and gas company. He was also a member of the working group on foreign direct investments under the administration of the Indian Prime Minister. Jain was awarded the Risk Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 and the NASSCOM Business Leader Award annually. He received the American India Foundation Philanthropy and Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 and the Capital Markets Achievement Award from Euromoney Magazine in 2003.
Personal Life
In March 2013, Jain requested a reduction in his salary by nearly 2 million euros. He is an avid cricket fan and even owns a stake in one of India's top cricket teams. In November 2012, he purchased a two-bedroom apartment in New York for 7.2 million dollars.
