Ante Jazic: A Journey through Football

Early Career and Collegiate Years

Ante Jazic, a Canadian soccer player of Croatian descent, began his career with the Halifax King of Donair youth club. In 1996, he joined Dalhousie University, where he played for the Dalhousie Tigers.

European Experience

In 1997, Jazic ventured to Croatia to play for Hrvatksi Dragovojak in a lower division. He spent two years there, making 54 appearances and scoring four goals. In 1999, he signed with Hajduk Split. In his first season, he played in 24 matches and scored once, as the club finished second in the Croatian league.

Move to Austria and Russia

After one season with Hajduk, Jazic joined Austrian club Rapid Wien in 2000. He became a regular starter, featuring in 107 games over four seasons, while scoring a single goal. In 2004, he transferred to FC Kuban Krasnodar in Russia.

Injury and Departure from Kuban

Jazic made his debut for Kuban on July 3, 2004. However, his time with the club was cut short by an injury during a warm-up before the second half of a match against Torpedo Moscow on October 23, 2004. He was replaced after only two minutes of play, setting an unusual record for the season. Kuban was relegated to the first division, and Jazic departed due to league restrictions on foreign players.

MLS Career and International Debut

After a six-month break, Jazic signed with Los Angeles Galaxy in 2006. He spent two and a half seasons with the club, appearing in 44 matches. In 2009, he was selected 19th overall in the MLS draft by Chivas USA.

International Career

Jazic made his debut for the Canadian national team in 2004. He earned 25 caps and scored one goal during his international career.
