Caleb Followill - Leader and Rhythm Guitarist of Kings of Leon
Caleb Followill, also known as Anthony Caleb Followill, was born in 1982 to Betty Ann and Ivan Leon Followill, traveling Pentecostal evangelists on a mission in the American South. Caleb is one of the famous members of the popular group 'Kings of Leon', which also includes his brothers Jared, Nathan, and their cousin Matthew Followill.
Formation of Kings of Leon
The band was formed in 1999 and gained incredible popularity in Ireland, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, and the United States. 'Kings of Leon' went on to win Grammy awards. Initially, their music was a combination of Southern rock and garage rock, but they later ventured beyond existing styles, particularly with their latest album.
Musical Influences
Caleb Followill, known as one of the main driving forces behind the group, draws inspiration from musicians such as Townes Van Zandt, Dave Alvin, Roger Miller, as well as bands like Pearl Jam and Radiohead.
Memorable Episode
A funny incident occurred during a concert on July 10, 2009, when Caleb broke his favorite 1972 Gibson ES-325 guitar due to sound issues on stage. The repaired guitar was later returned to him by Gibson's Repair & Restoration department.
Come Around Sundown
In 2010, the band released their 5th studio album titled 'Come Around Sundown'. This album significantly differed from their previous four albums as the musicians allowed themselves to experiment with their sound. Caleb Followill stated in an interview, "We are wealthy enough and don't need the money. Now, we care more about the quality of our music than the sales of our albums."
Personal Life
In September 2010, Caleb proposed to his girlfriend, model Lily Aldridge, whom he had been dating since 2007.
