Biography of Anthony Pritzker

Anthony Pritzker, an American billionaire and heir to the Hyatt Hotel company, was born in 1962 into the Pritzker family. His father, Robert Pritzker, was the founder and co-owner of the renowned organization Marmon. Marmon was once a trademark of the Nordyke Marmon & Company, an automobile company that operated from 1902 to 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana, producing cars. Later, from 1963 to 1997, the company manufactured trucks in Texas.

The Hyatt Hotel enterprise, which includes Anthony as part of the Pritzker family, is a subsidiary of the powerful Global Hyatt Corporation. The corporation manages various divisions and was established in 1957 after the acquisition of Hyatt House. Hyatt Hotel made a significant impact in 1954 when it opened its hotel for the Los Angeles International Airport, located outside the airport premises.

Over the years, Hyatt faced various challenges but soon gained immense fame, especially for being the first company to open an atrium-style hotel in 1967. In 1969, they built their first hotel abroad, the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong (closed in 2005 and will be restored in 2009). In 1980, Grand Hyatt, Park Hyatt, and Hyatt Regency Maui were opened. Currently, the company owns 340 profitable hotels.

In December 2004, Global Hyatt announced its acquisition of AmeriSuites, a high-class chain of business hotels owned by the Blackstone Group. A year later, in 2005, Global Hyatt made another statement about the purchase of another property owned by the Blackstone Group, Summerfield Suites. The hotel business of the company continues to thrive, with an increasing number of hotels and growing revenue. According to Forbes, Anthony Pritzker's personal fortune is approximately $2.7 billion, placing him on the list of the world's most influential individuals.
