Antoaneta Stefanova is a Bulgarian chess player who was born in 1979. She developed a passion for psychology and is often seen with books on psychoanalysis. However, during competitions, she prefers to read something lighter.
At the age of 13, Stefanova decided to pursue a career as a professional chess player. Her father, who is an artist and a chess player himself, was her first teacher and mentor. She attributes her love for the game to him.
In 2004, Stefanova made headlines when she won the Women's World Chess Championship, defeating Russian player Ekaterina Kovalevskaya in the final match held in Elista. Her victory was celebrated by the Bulgarian government, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Solomon Passy, stating that Bulgarian women would now be recognized not only for their grace but also for their intelligence.
Aside from chess, Stefanova is pursuing a degree in economics from Sofia University. She enjoys dancing and spending time with her friends. Despite having many admirers, she believes that when the time is right, her soul will give her a special signal when she meets the person with whom she wants to spend her life.
