An Early Life in Football
At the tender age of 15, Antonio Busiani embarked on his footballing career with Padova. He went on to play for Bologna, where he lifted the Italian Championship trophy, followed by stints at Fiorentina, Padova for a second time, and ultimately ending his playing days with Sampierdarenese. In 1929, Busiani earned his sole international cap for Italy in a match against Germany, which resulted in a 1-2 defeat. Over the course of his 17-season professional career, Busiani amassed 112 goals in 372 appearances.
Journey into Management
Upon retiring from the pitch, Busiani joined Milan in 1937 for a single friendly match against Internazionale, which ended in a 1-2 loss. In 1940, he took on the role of technical director, effectively serving as co-coach alongside official head coaches. Under Busiani's guidance, Milan played 193 matches, claiming the Italian Championship and Latin Cup crowns. Additionally, he held the positions of sporting director and caretaker president from July 1944 to April 1945, and vice-president during the 1954/55 and 1956/57 seasons.
Involvement beyond Milan
In 1951, Busiani joined forces with Piercarlo Beretta and Giampiero Boniperti to form the technical commission that managed the Italian national team for five matches.
