Antonio Cabrini: A Legendary Italian Footballer
Early Career and Club SuccessItalian footballer Antonio Cabrini began his professional career in 1973 with Cremonese, where he played for two years before moving to Atalanta. In 1976, he found his calling at Juventus, where he spent the most successful years of his career.
During his time at Juventus, Cabrini made 297 appearances in Serie A, scoring 33 goals. He won six Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias, and all three international club trophies available at the time: the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup.
International Success with Italy
Cabrini also had a distinguished international career, representing Italy 73 times and scoring 9 goals. He captained the team 10 times and played a key role in Italy's victory at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, despite missing a penalty in the final match.
Cabrini participated in three consecutive World Cups (1978, 1982, and 1986) and the 1980 European Championship. He started in every game for Italy in these tournaments, totaling 18 matches in the final stages.
Later Career and Politics
Following his retirement from football, Cabrini pursued a coaching career. He worked with various lower-division Italian teams and also served as head coach of the Syria national team from 2007 to 2008.
In 2009, Cabrini entered the political arena and ran for the Lazio regional council. He has been actively involved in Italian politics since then.
