José Leandro Andrade was born on March 4, 1901, in Montevideo, Uruguay. His passion for soccer began at a young age, and he honed his skills at a local amateur club before joining his hometown team, Peñarol.
Rise to Stardom
Andrade made his professional debut for Peñarol in 1919 and quickly established himself as a star. Playing as a left winger, he possessed exceptional speed, agility, and endurance.
International Success
In 1920, Andrade was selected for the Uruguayan national team and made his international debut at the South American Championship. He scored a goal in Uruguay's victory over Brazil and helped his team claim the continental title.
Andrade continued to excel on the international stage, representing Uruguay at the 1924 and 1928 Summer Olympics. Although he missed out on the 1924 tournament due to a split in Uruguayan soccer, he played a pivotal role in Uruguay's gold medal victory in 1928.
Club Achievements
