Born on August 3, 1942, in Bombay, Anu Aga began her educational journey by obtaining a bachelor's degree in medicine from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).

Anu's intelligence and potential as a student led her to participate in the Fullbright Scholarship program, where she studied in the United States for several months. After returning to India, she embarked on her business career in 1985 when she joined the industrial company Thermax.
