Political Career
A prominent political and statesman in Burkina Faso, Apollinaire Kyélem de Tambèla has served as the Acting Prime Minister of the country since October 21, 2022. Before this appointment, he held various roles, including lawyer, advocate, and publicist.
Education and Early Life
Kyélem pursued a legal education at the University of Nice's Faculty of Law in France. During his university years, he became an ardent supporter of the revolutionary leader Thomas Sankara. In 1983, he and his comrades established the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution while studying in Nice.
Legal and Advocacy Work
Upon returning to Burkina Faso, Kyélem embarked on a career in law. He worked as an advocate and later as a lawyer at the Court of Appeal in Ouagadougou. He became a member of the Bar Association of Burkina Faso and also directed the Center for International and Strategic Studies (CRIS).
Academic and Political Affiliations
Kyélem taught law in Burkina Faso, demonstrating his deep knowledge and expertise in the field. He is known for his affiliation with the opposition and his vocal stance as a polemicist. Interestingly, prior to his appointment, he had advocated for the abolition of the position of Prime Minister in Burkina Faso.
