Estonian-Serbian Pianist

Estonian-Serbian pianist and music pedagogue, Viardo Valdma graduated from the Tallinn Conservatory under Bruno Lukk, followed by postgraduate studies at the Moscow Conservatory under Nina Yemelyanova.

Professor in Tallinn and Novi Sad

From 1970, Valdma taught at the Tallinn Conservatory, later moving to Yugoslavia in 1979. He became a professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad (heading the department from 1989).

Influential Educator in Belgrade

Simultaneously, Valdma joined the Belgrade University of Arts in 1984, again as a professor and department head (from 1992). Among his notable Serbian students is Natasa Veljkovic.

International Acclaim

Valdma also imparted knowledge at the Cologne University of Music (where Soren Nils Eichberg was his student) and his own Academy of Piano Art in Geneva. His contributions were recognized with an honorary doctorate from the Estonian Academy of Music in 1991.
