Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Ari Ólafsson, the Icelandic singer who represented Iceland at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Our Choice," spent part of his childhood in the United States. At the age of 11, he made his concert debut in the Icelandic production of the musical "Oliver!" alongside renowned Icelandic singer Selma Björnsdóttir.
Musical Collaborations and Education
In 2011, Ólafsson began collaborating with Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø. He is also a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 2015, he competed in the Icelandic music competition "The Voice of Iceland."
Eurovision 2018
In March 2018, Ólafsson triumphed in the Icelandic national selection Söngvakeppnin 2018. However, bookmakers predicted that he would finish only 40th out of 43 possible contestants. On May 9, 2018, he performed in the first semi-final but failed to qualify for the final, placing last.
