Biography of Ariana Richards
Ariana Richards is an American actress and artist. She was born on September 11, 1979, in Healdsburg, California, United States. Her mother was involved in the show business industry, working as a film producer and PR agent. This influenced Ariana and her sister, both of whom became actresses. Additionally, Ariana, who has Irish and Italian heritage, is a descendant of Carlo Crivelli, an artist from the Renaissance era.
Early Life and Education
Ariana Richards graduated with honors from Skidmore College, earning a bachelor's degree in visual and performing arts. She furthered her studies in art at Pasadena and Western Oregon University.
Acting Career
In 1987, Richards made her acting debut in the television series "Into the Homeland" which aired on cable channels. Her most well-known film, "Jurassic Park," was released in 1993, where she portrayed the role of Lex Murphy, the granddaughter of a millionaire who ends up on a dinosaur island. She reprised her role as Lex in the sequel, "The Lost World." Interestingly, when Steven Spielberg was selecting an actress for the role of Lex, he asked Ariana how loudly she could scream. After a three-minute recording and listening to her screams at maximum volume, Spielberg was satisfied and approved Richards for the role. In 1989, she played Mindy Sterngood in the film "Tremors," which is perhaps her second most famous film. Richards has also appeared in several other films and television series, with her most recent work being the 2007 film "77." As an actress, Richards has received seven awards, two of which were for television films and five for feature films.
Music Career
In 1993, Ariana Richards released her first and (so far) only album, "First Love." The album featured a blend of youthful pop music with dance rhythms. Only one song from the album was released as a single. In August 2008, Richards collaborated with Chris Allport on a duet titled "The Prayer."
Artistic Endeavors
Ariana Richards is not only a talented actress and singer but also an accomplished artist. Her paintings predominantly focus on landscapes and portraits with an inclination towards impressionism. In October 2005, Richards won first place in a national oil painting competition with her artwork titled "Lady of the Dahlias."
