Early Career
Ari started playing football on beaches in Brazil, where he was noticed by scouts and invited to join a third division club. In 2004, he began his professional career with Avai before moving to Fortaleza in the same year.
Swedish Adventure
In the winter of 2006, Ari's agent sought opportunities for him in Europe. After a failed transfer to Helsingborg, he signed with Kalmar FF for €1.8 million. In his debut season, he became the league's top scorer with 15 goals in 23 matches. However, his performance declined in the following season, managing only 3 goals in 12 appearances.
Dutch Success
In 2007, AZ Alkmaar acquired Ari for €4.5 million on a five-year contract. He made his debut against Inter Milan and scored two goals in his first official match for the club. In his first season, he became AZ's top scorer with 9 goals in 29 matches. Despite his success, AZ rejected offers from Hamburg and Racing Santander for his services.
Russian Journey
Moscow Spartak expressed interest in Ari in 2009 and signed him in February 2010 for €3 million. He made his debut as a substitute against Dynamo Moscow and scored his first goal in his third match, helping Spartak defeat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-1. Ari's quick integration was facilitated by his Brazilian teammates. He had several notable performances, including a double against Sibir and two goals in the Champions League against Zilina. However, a serious injury sustained in a match against Zenit sidelined him for three weeks.
International Recognition
Ari was called up to the Brazilian under-20 national team in 2005 but was not selected for the World Cup. In 2006, he was included in the senior team's squad under coach Carlos Dunga but did not make his debut.
