Biography of Arno Geiger

Arno Geiger is a contemporary Austrian writer, born in 1968 in Bregenz, Austria. He studied German philology and ancient history at the universities of Innsbruck and Vienna. Currently, he resides in Wolfurt and Vienna. Geiger began publishing in 1996 and has received several literary awards, including the German Book Prize in 2005. His most famous works include "Irrlichterloh" (1999), "Schöne Freunde" (2002), "Es geht uns gut" (2005), and "Anna nicht vergessen" (2007). In his novel "Es geht uns gut" (We Are Doing Well), Geiger tells the story of Philipp Erlich, a 36-year-old unsuccessful writer who inherits an abandoned family villa in the suburbs of Vienna from his grandmother. As he begins to clear out the old items stored in the attic, these objects trigger memories of his family. The novel takes place over nine days and intertwines the story of three generations of an ordinary Austrian bourgeois family with the history of the country from 1938 to the present day.
