Early Life and Education
Hrachya Hakobyan was born in 1964. He graduated from the Yerevan Institute of National Economy in 1990, majoring in economics and planning.
Career in Economics
From 1990 to 1992 and 1994 to 1997, Hakobyan worked at the Abovyan branch of Agroprombank, rising through the ranks from economist to branch manager. He spent 1992-1994 and 1997-1998 working in Moscow.
Railway Management
In 1998, Hakobyan joined the railway industry. He became the deputy director and later director of "Railways of Armenia" CJSC. He also served as deputy general director of "Armenian Railway" CJSC.
Government Service
From 2003 to 2004, Hakobyan held the position of Deputy Minister of Energy of Armenia.
Political Career
Hakobyan was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) on May 12, 2007. He is a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
