Artem Anisimov: A Biography

Artem Anisimov is a Russian forward and professional ice hockey player currently playing for the New York Rangers in the NHL. Born on May 24, 1988, in Yaroslavl, Russia, Anisimov began his hockey career in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey school.

Anisimov made his semi-professional debut in the 2004-2005 season with Lokomotiv 2, the youth farm club of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. From 2005 to 2007, he played for the main Lokomotiv team. During this time, Anisimov also represented Russia in three youth world championships from 2006 to 2008, winning a silver and bronze medal. He also participated in the 2007 Super Series.

On August 2, 2007, Anisimov signed his first contract with the New York Rangers and joined their AHL farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack. On January 23, 2009, he was selected to participate in the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic in Worcester, Massachusetts. Anisimov scored one goal and assisted on two others, including the game-winning goal for the PlanetUSA team against the Canadian All-Stars.

In the 2008/2009 season, Anisimov played two games for the New York Rangers, one in the regular season and one in the playoffs, which turned out to be the team's last game in the Stanley Cup. He has since been a regular member of the New York Rangers' main roster for the 2009/2010 season.
