Artem Chekh: A Ukrainian Writer
Artem Chekh, a Ukrainian writer, chose the pseudonym "Chekh" based on his school nickname. He completed his secondary education in the city of Cherkasy. In 2002, he moved to Kyiv and enrolled at the State Academy of Managerial Staff of Culture and Arts of Ukraine, where he studied from 2002 to 2007. During his studies, he wrote in Russian but did not publish or submit anything to competitions.
A Shift to Ukrainian Writing
Later on, Chekh switched to the extramural department of the university and began writing in Ukrainian. His first novel won the "Youth Urban Novel" competition organized by the "Folio" publishing house in 2007. While writing his first book, Chekh admitted to being influenced by several contemporary Ukrainian writers, such as Anatoliy Dnistrovyy, Serhiy Zhadan, and Taras Prokhasko.
