Artem Poznyak is a renowned actor, educator, television host, and budding author, showcasing his versatility across numerous creative fields. Early Life and Education

Artem Poznyak was born on August 31, 1982, in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. His parents separated when he and his brother were young, leaving the children in the care of their mother, a police officer. To avoid burdening their loved one, the boys learned self-reliance and discipline from an early age.

Poznyak's affinity for public speaking and performance blossomed in his primary school years. He actively participated in school plays and captivated audiences with his charisma. Dance also became a passion for the young artist. After graduating high school, he served his mandatory military service in Crimea. Despite his height of 1.76 meters (5'9") and weight of approximately 60 kilograms (132 pounds), he was fortunate to avoid the notorious "dedovshchina" (hazing) during his time in the army.

A Change of Direction

Upon returning home, Artem initially considered continuing his career in the military. However, a pivotal moment occurred when he watched the film "Papa," sparking a realization of his true calling: acting. With determination, he moved to Kyiv and enrolled in the prestigious Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema and Television.

Without any formal preparation, Poznyak relied on his recollection of school poems and was admitted to the workshop of Natalia Nikolaevna Gusakova. He graduated in 2010 with a degree in Theater and Cinema Directing.

Acting Career

While still a student, Poznyak landed his first acting role in the TV series "Women's Tears" in 2006. He subsequently played Igor Tolstunov, a forensic expert investigating complex crimes, in the popular series "Department 44."

Unlike many of his classmates, Poznyak chose not to pursue a career in theater after university, citing financial reasons. However, within two years, he founded his own theater company, "Licum," where he served as director, artistic director, and lead actor. The ensemble staged a diverse repertoire, including productions of "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "Too Married Taxi Driver." Poznyak also directed and performed a one-man show, "Bludi," based on Leo Tolstoy's "The Kreutzer Sonata."

Other Creative Endeavors

Alongside his theatrical endeavors, Poznyak embarked on a teaching career, becoming an instructor in both the "Show-Max" production center and the Kyiv State Variety and Circus Academy. He admits to being a demanding teacher, resulting in a notable reduction in the number of students after the first lesson.

In 2016, Poznyak showcased his acting prowess in the melodrama "Forgive," portraying an unfaithful husband. That same year, he was invited to host the "Evidence" program on the Inter TV channel, exploring notable crimes committed in the Soviet Union.

The following year, he played the lead role in the melodrama "I Never Cry," a story revolving around his character's relationship with Tina (Irina Tarannik). Shortly after the premiere, he received an offer to teach at his alma mater, prompting him to pursue a second degree in Producing.

Amidst his acting and teaching commitments, Poznyak contributed to the creation of the melodrama "Eva's Second Life," playing Vlad Belsky, a businessman who loses his wife in a tragic accident.

Personal Life

Artem Poznyak is married to Alexandra, a film director. The couple met in 2013 and dated for five years before tying the knot in 2018. They celebrated their wedding over two days, surrounded by close friends and family. They have a daughter together, whom they prefer to keep out of the spotlight.

Recent Projects

In 2018, Poznyak's filmography expanded significantly. He starred as Bodgan, a wheelchair-bound character in the TV series "Journey to the Center of the Soul." He also took on the role of a businessman with a criminal past in the crime comedy "Dentist."

Poznyak, an avid social media user, announced the start of filming for "Mentovskie Voyny. Kharkiv" in June 2018. Set to air on the 2+2 TV channel, the series will comprise 40 episodes.
