Early Life and Education
Oliver Leon Jones, better known as Oliver Stark, was born on June 27, 1991, in London, England. He is the younger of two brothers. Stark attended Hendon School in northwest London but struggled to find his career path initially, holding a variety of jobs, including cleaner, call center operator, computer game salesman, and nightclub promoter. He also dabbled in journalism, writing sports articles for a major website as an avid Arsenal football fan. However, acting ultimately became his calling.
Acting Career Beginnings
Stark's screen debut came in 2010 with short films "Break In" and "Talking To The Filth." He then landed his first starring role in the short "Always There." In 2013, he made a guest appearance in the popular British comedy-drama "Catastrophe." This was followed by a series of short films before he was cast in the crime drama series "Luther" alongside Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson.
Film and Television Roles
Stark's filmography expanded to feature films, including "Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box" with Michael Sheen and Lena Headey, and "Edge of Tomorrow" with Sam Neill. He also joined the cast of the martial arts series "Into the Badlands" in 2015, which was inspired by the Chinese fable "Journey to the West."
"9-1-1 Franchise" Breakthrough
In 2018, Stark gained significant recognition for his role in the television series "9-1-1." The show follows the lives of firefighters and paramedics, and Stark's portrayal of Evan Buckley earned him critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. He also reprised his role in the spin-off series "9-1-1: Lone Star."
Personal Life
Stark currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He is in a relationship with actress Hannah Gottesman since late 2015. In his spare time, he volunteers for the environmental conservation organization Turtle Conservancy.
Current Projects
Stark continues to portray Evan Buckley in "9-1-1," which is currently in its sixth season. His return to the show in Season 6 was a relief for fans who feared his departure after his character was mentioned as transferring to a different fire station in Season 5.
