Early Life and Journalism Career

Arthur Dandelot, a French music critic and impresario, was born to a composer father, Georges Dandelot. From 1882, he wrote critical articles for the magazine "Piano soleil." In 1889, he co-founded the newspaper "Le Monde musical" with his father-in-law, musical instrument maker Édouard Mangeot.

Historical Writings and Monographs

Dandelot authored "La Société des Concerts du Conservatoire de 1828 à 1897" (1898), a historical essay on the Paris Conservatoire's Orchestre Concert. He also wrote the monograph "Évolution de la musique de théâtre depuis Meyerbeer jusqu'à nos jours" (1927), examining the development of theatrical music.

Biographical Works and Memoirs

Dandelot penned biographies of Charles Gounod (with Jacques Gabriel Prodhomme) and Camille Saint-Saëns. He published a collection of memoirs titled "Petits Mémoires musicaux" (1936).

Impresario Endeavors

From 1899, Dandelot organized Parisian performances by renowned musicians, including Édouard Risler, Francis Planté, Jacques Thibaud, Ignacy Paderewski, Jascha Heifetz, and Yehudi Menuhin. From 1920, his son Maurice Dandelot (1897-1964) took over a significant portion of his production work.
