Early Life and Career Beginnings

Ashley Johnson was born in Camarillo, California, to Nancy (née Spruell), an independent film producer, and Clifford Johnson, a ship captain. Due to her father's work, she moved to Michigan and graduated from high school at age 15.

At the tender age of seven, Johnson began her acting career with the role of Nicole Gautier in the 1990 action film "Kindergarten Cop" alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme. She also appeared in the short-lived television series "All-American Girl" in 1994.

Breakthrough Role and Television Career

In 2000, Johnson gained prominence for her portrayal of Mel Gibson's daughter in the comedy "What Women Want." This role propelled her into the spotlight and opened doors to various television series and shows.

Johnson regularly features in both episodic and recurring roles in popular shows such as "The Office," "Blindspot," and "Timeless." She has also lent her voice to animated characters, including Gwen Tennyson in the "Ben 10" franchise and the titular character in the video game "The Last of Us."

Personal Life

Johnson is the daughter of Nancy and Clifford Johnson. She has two siblings, a brother named Chris and a sister named Hayley. Her father passed away from liver cancer in July 2000.
