Childhood and Early Years

Born on November 5, 1991, in Danderyd, Sweden, Asta Kamma August began her life amidst a distinguished Scandinavian film dynasty. Her mother, Pernilla August, is a renowned actress, screenwriter, and director known for her role as Anakin Skywalker's mother in the "Star Wars" franchise. Her father, Bille August, is a Danish film director, cinematographer, and screenwriter who won an Oscar for his 1989 drama "Pelle the Conqueror."

Acting Journey

From an early age, Asta knew she wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps and become an actress. She made her film debut at age 5 in a small role in the drama "Jerusalem," starring her mother. Throughout her childhood, she continued to act in both film and theater.

After studying economic history at Lund University, Asta realized her true calling lay in performance. She enrolled in the Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2013, graduating four years later with a degree in acting and completing a course in directing at Malmö University.

Theater and Film Career

Asta's theater career began in 2011 with the Stockholm-based Turteatern troupe, where she appeared in a production of "Juliette" based on the novel by Marquis de Sade. She has also graced the stages of Sweden's Royal Dramatic Theater and the experimental PotatoPotato.

Since 2016, Asta has focused her theatrical work in Denmark's Aarhus and Copenhagen. Her portrayal of Ophelia in Shakespeare's "Hamlet" earned her the Reumert Talent Prize of the Year and the Believe in You award. She went on to star in "Emil of Lönneberga" in 2018 and "A Christmas Carol" in 2019.

In film, Asta has appeared primarily in Danish productions. Notable roles include her recurring character, Suzanne Moller, in the historical drama series "The Nurses" (2018, 2022) and her appearance in Lars von Trier's horror series "The Kingdom Exodus" (2022).

Personal Life

Asta shares a close bond with her younger sister, Alba, who is also an actress. They often attend events together and are frequently mistaken for twins. Asta enjoys reading, watching films, cooking, and interior design. She prefers understated clothing in black and white tones.

Current Projects

Asta Kamma August recently starred in the drama "Burn All My Letters" (2022), based on the autobiography of Swedish author and journalist Alex Schulman. The film explores the familial relationships and secrets surrounding her character, Karin, and her grandfather, played by Bill Skarsgård.
