Biography of Willa Holland
Early LifeWilla Joanna Chance Holland was born on June 18, 1991, in Los Angeles, California, USA. She is the daughter of cinematographer Keith Holland and actress Darnell George De Palma. She has two sisters, Brianna Holland (born in 1988) and Piper De Palma (born in 1996). Holland spent her childhood in Chelsea, London. It was during this period that she was cast in the film "Mission: Impossible," directed by her stepfather Brian De Palma. Willa attended Paul Revere Middle School.

Early Career
During the summer of 1999, Willa spent time with her family in the Hamptons. It was there that she had a life-changing experience while playing at Steven Spielberg's house. Spielberg told her mother, "You have to put her in front of the camera!" After returning to Los Angeles, Willa signed a contract with Ford Modeling Agency in September. She immediately found success, landing her first major gig with the renowned British fashion house Burberry. Willa was then signed to Brian De Palma's talent agency and started appearing in various commercial projects. In 2001, at the age of 10, she acted in the thriller film "Ordinary Madness." She also starred in the 2005 FOX series "The Inside" alongside model Rachel Nichols, but left the show when a new writer took her character out of the storyline.

Rise to Fame
Willa Holland gained widespread recognition for her role as Kaitlin Cooper, the sister of Marissa Cooper, in the hit series "The O.C." from 2003 to 2007. She was a fan of the show before being cast and appeared regularly in the fourth season, making her a noticed actress.
Recent Work
Currently, Willa Holland attends private acting classes in Los Angeles, learning from esteemed mentors and masters of the craft. She recently graced the cover of Teen Vogue magazine, where she was the youngest model featured. She has also appeared in Fashion 18 and CosmoGirl! magazines and represented the LeSportsac Fall and Winter collection and Macy's handbag collection in 2006.
In 2004, she starred in Asia Argento's drama "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things." In 2005, Willa appeared in the comedy series "The Comeback," and a year later, she was featured in the video game documentary "Making the Video Game: Scarface - The World Is Yours."
In 2008, Willa worked in the family sports film "Chasing 3000" and appeared in John Stockwell's comedy-drama "Middle of Nowhere." She then went on to act in Michael Winterbottom's drama "Genova" and Jason Freeland's drama "Garden Party."
As of 2009, Willa was invited to participate in the film "Legion."
Interestingly, in the first season of "The O.C.," the role of Kaitlin Cooper was portrayed by Shaylen Woodley, not Willa Holland. Holland took over the role in the third and fourth seasons because she looked older than her 14 years and resembled Mischa Barton, with whom her character shared family ties in the show.
