Atmavravi: Belarusian Musician, Poet, and Composer

Early Life and Education

Ivan Novikov, known as Atmavravi, was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus. He began his musical journey in childhood, studying the cello and singing in a choir. After completing his education at Minsk Mathematical Gymnasium No. 50 in the early 1990s, he enrolled in the philological faculty of Belarusian State University but did not graduate.

Spiritual Awakening and Musical Beginnings

In the late 1980s, Atmavravi penned his first songs. He became a sannyasin of Osho in 1992 and traveled to India in 1994, spending four months in an Osho commune. There, he embraced dance music and new age and received the name "Atmavravi" (meaning "deepest sun").

Formation of "Arigato"

In 1997, Atmavravi assembled the band "Arigato." The group performed extensively in Minsk and Mogilev and recorded several amateur albums. Tragically, the band disbanded in 2001 following the death of Atmavravi's brother, who was a member.

Solo Career

From 2002 onwards, Atmavravi embarked on a solo career. In 2004, he released his debut solo album, "Chertopolh" (Thistle), under the name Atmavravi. He has since written, recorded, and toured extensively with his music.

Recognition and Accolades

In 2006, Atmavravi received the prestigious Belarusian national music award, "Rock-Koronatsiya," as Artist of the Year. His unique blend of spirituality, introspection, and musicianship has earned him a loyal following and critical acclaim.
