Biography of Atreyu
Formation and Early SuccessAtreyu is an American metalcore band from California. Originally named "Retribution," the band later changed their name to "Atreyu" after one of the characters in the film "The NeverEnding Story." Formed in 1998-1999, the group gained initial success with their first EP, Visions, which helped them establish a presence in the Southern California metalcore scene. They further solidified their reputation through regular performances.
Record Deal and Debut Album
In 2004, Atreyu released their second EP, Fractures In The Façade Of Your Porcelain Beature, which caught the attention of the influential label "Victory Records." The band was soon offered a record deal. Their first full-length album, Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses, was released in 2002 to significant acclaim from metalcore fans and music press alike. The album sold over 100,000 copies worldwide, featuring successful singles such as "Ain't Love Grand" and "Lip Gloss and Black."
Subsequent Releases and Tours
In 2003, Atreyu began working on their next album. The reissue of Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses in early 2004 included a bonus DVD featuring live concert footage. That same year, the band performed on the second stage of the renowned "Ozzfest" alongside Slipknot, Lamb of God, Bleeding Through, and Hatebreed. They also appeared at the "Vans Warped Tour" and embarked on their own "Bitter, Broken, Bound and Gagged Tour" across the United States.
The Curse and Continued Success
