Norwegian Communist Activist
Early Life and EducationGerda Grepp was born in Namsos, Norway, on the shores of the Norwegian Sea. She graduated from the teaching seminary in Levanger and later became a member of the Trondheim City Council from 1908 to 1911.
Socialist and Communist Involvement
Grepp was an active member of the Norwegian Social Democratic Youth League from 1912 to 1914. She was also one of the organizers of the solidarity movement in Scandinavia with Soviet Russia.
International Activism
In 1920, Grepp attended the 2nd Congress of the Comintern and the 1st International Conference of Communist Women in Moscow. She played a significant role in the international communist movement.
Tragic Death
On August 2, 1920, while attending an aviation festival at Khodynka Field in Moscow, Grepp was fatally injured when she was struck by the wing of a crashing airplane. She passed away two days later.
Legacy
Gerda Grepp was buried with honors at the Kremlin Wall in Moscow. Her life and work as a Norwegian and international communist activist continue to inspire and motivate those who fight for social justice and equality.
